Anna Paquin

Anna Paquin, a Canadian-New Zealander actor. Paquin was born in Winnipeg and was raised by Wellington Paquin's father, was first seen on stage in the role of Flora McGrath. For this part, she was awarded the Academy Award of Best Supporting Actress in the romantic comedy The Piano at the young age of eleven. She is the second-youngest winner in Oscar the history of Oscars. The actress was chosen to play Flora McGrath the daughter of the muffled Scottish pianist who, in the middle of 19th century, moves back to New Zealand for an arranged marriage when she responded to an audition open to all when she was just nine years old and had almost no prior experience in acting. In her teens, Paquin made the move to America. Paquin played the lead role in Fly Away Home in 1996 as well as a brief appearance in the film as Jane Eyre when she was still a toddler. Paquin played Frankie Addams, a character in Carson McCullers' novel The Member of the Wedding in 1997. In Steven Spielberg's Amistad in 1997 in which she played the Spanish queen in a lesser part. She played teenagers on Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (2000) as well as A Walk on the Moon (2000). The actress played groupie Polexia Aphrodisa on Almost Famous (2000).
