April Ross

April Ross is only one of only a handful of beach volleyball athletes to win medals at least twice in an Olympics. Alix klineman, who is taking part for the very first time at the Tokyo Olympics is hoping to secure her third gold medal. Ross hopes to win the Olympic the first medal of gold but she is also aiming for greater. At 39 she could have her final chance. But she's still convinced of winning top awards. Ross on NBC Boston, said that If the team is performing well or at all they can earn a gold. Then I will also take the opportunity to try my luck. Ross born August 22nd, 1982 at Costa Mesa California. She resided in the area together with her parents. Along with competing in various sports, Ross was also a student at Newport Harbor High School. In her time as a college athlete she played indoor track and volleyball. But she stood out in this sport. When she played in her time at the high school level as per her college biography she played as an outside-hitter, middle blocker and setter. She was named one of the Gatorade National Circle of Champions Player of the year in 1999 for her achievements. In 2000, she won her the Orange County Athlete of the of the year for volleyball. Ross and Klineman have been doing what they do from 2017. However, Ross was a major player in the world of beach volleyball before joining the duo. She has had the chance to win numerous events, one of which was with the legendary player of volleyball. Jennifer Kessy coached her from 2007 to the year 2013. Kessy was Ross's co-coach at the 2009 World Championships. In 2012, the duo were awarded silver medals at the London Olympics. They were knocked out of the gold medal by the legendary duo of Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh (Jennings). As fate would have it Ross turned out to be Walsh Jennings' new partner after May-Treanor's retirement. Together, they won beach volleyball bronze for the Rio Olympics in 2016. Ross was a college athlete for USC Trojans before starting her professional career. She played in high school, as well as some years before she hit the beach as a professional. It was a successful performance for Ross during her time at the school. As a freshmen in 2000 Her performance was rewarded with the Pac-10 and NCAA the Freshman of the Year award. The Trojans had the chance to make it to the Final Four with her help. Her sophomore year was the time she was devastated by a personal loss but still managed to repeat as an All-American. Over her final two years in the program she led the Trojans towards the summit of the mountain winning successive national titles. In 2003-2004, she was named as the most successful female volleyball player on the collegiate scene in America through the Honda Sports Award. Ross majored in International Relations at USC. Margie Ross was never able to see her daughter reach the top of beach volleyball. Ross suffered the loss of her mom to cancer of the breast in 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. In the aftermath, Ross continues to be close to her deceased parent. Margie has inspired her in her life and on the beach.
